A very fine example of an early domed brooch by Kenneth Jay Lane in an Egyptian Art Deco style. The open work brooch is comprised of two layers of one inch wide curved and ribbed fan shapes that alternate with open negative spaces. The outer layer has six fans in an oval formation and topped by a higher layer of four fans. Lastly, the four fan layer is mounted at the very top with an oval scalloped dome piece. The brooch is 2.25 inches wide, 2.75 inches long and 1.25 inches deep. The back has the early oval signature plaque used by Kenneth Jay Lane prior to its change in 1973. The oval signature plaque inscribed with just K. J. L. The use of the periods between the letters and the lack of a copyright symbol, makes this the first signature Kenneth Jay Lane used on his pieces prior to 1973. Very fine condition.
