CANDICE LAKE

Candice post1 JOU

Australian-born fashion photographer, Contributing Style Editor at Vogue and leading influencer Candice Lake flew to Hamburg to shoot the #RebelleGoesEurope campaign. Candice, at that time 8 months pregnant, was glowing and full of energy. Even after 9 hours of shooting our REBELLE models Marie von Behrens, Nima Benati, Noor de Groot and Janni Delér, she was still bubbling with new ideas and enthusiasm!
Candice originally studied Law in Sydney before being discovered as a model. She worked for big fashion houses like Chanel, Louis Vuitton or Fendi before she decided to pursue her love of photography. She already has done shootings for Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo and Vogue Australia.

For the #RebelleGoesEurope campaign she was not merely the photographer but also stood in front of the camera. While wearing a beautiful Tory Burch dress she proudly showed off her growing tummy and looked radiant! Shop her signature look at REBELLE and find out more about Candice in our exclusive interview.

What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

I wake up, go downstairs and kiss my baby. And then I do some yoga with him, that’s really cute!

What do you usually have for breakfast?

I am such a breakfast crazy person! I make this delicious Bircher Müsli before hand over night with oat, almonds, coconut and goji berries. It’s delicious! And then you put some apple on it in the morning with goat milk yogurt, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. And that’s the starter (laughs) and then I have a delicious sour dough toast as well.

What is your favorite type of flower?

Oh gosh, I love gardenias and hyacinths!

What's you favorite fashion decade?

Definitively the 90s and the Renaissance as well! I love the Renaissance, I would like to be in a Renaissance painting my whole life!

What piece of your wardrobe will you still be wearing in 10 years?

Anything that’s Hermès - I have a beautiful camel coat from Hermès, I think I will be wearing that until I am 80!

What’s your special tip for a great closet clean out?

You make four piles: The things that you could not live without and which you wear all the time. Then the things you haven't worn in 6 months, put them in another pile and when you have not worn them the next 6 months, get rid of them. Then there is the pile that you know you will never gonna wear - again, get rid of it. And then there is that special pile, with things you maybe don't wear, but you had your fist kiss in that or your husband gave it to you - whatever it is. Keep them in a box out of your closet as a memory.

Vintage or Runway?

Maybe runway.

Leather or lace?

Leather! Oh no, laces are my favorites, too, but still - leather ! (laughs)

What would you never ever wear?

Overalls, I don't look good in them and anything that is „normcore“, for example boyfriend jeans.

Your favorite longterm designer piece?

I invest my money in beautiful coats. I have a wonderful Céline coat which cost me a fortune but I know that I am gonna wear it forever. And also bags, I think they are longterm investments. Like a Chanel bag, I will have forever.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Champaign, caviar, chocolate and blue cheese!

What was your favorite item of the shoot today?

Probably that gorgeous Hermès scarf Nima wore around her waist or that suede red Trapeze bag from Céline.
