The Reign of Nina Ricci
Nina Ricci was burn in Turin in 1883. By the aged of 13, she had relocated to France with her family and had begun an apprenticeship in a dressmaker’s. Her love of fashion stayed with her throughout her adolescence. She married Italian jeweller Luigi Ricci in 1904, and started working for fashion house Raffin in 1908. She remained at Raffin for 20 years before becoming their business partner. She then took the plunge and started the house of Nina Ricci in 1932. Business boomed, and Ricci was revered for her beautifully feminine dresses. She designed all the way into her 70s, when she withdrew slightly and chose to oversee the design process instead. She passed away in 1970, after a stunning career in high fashion.
The History Of The House
The house of Nina Ricci was launched in 1932. Up until the breakout of WWII, the brand had been holding its own in the haute couture world; Nina Ricci clothes were renowned for their classically feminine style. Post-war France had very little time for haute couture, however the label came up with the clever idea of a couture exhibition. The idea was so successful that it went non tour across Europe and the US, and Nina Ricci had cemented their place in fashion history. After the recline of Ricci as head designer in 1954, the house worked under a slew of talented designers including Jules-François Crahay, Gerard Pipart and most famously Olivier Theyskens. Today the brand maintains lines of Nina Ricci bags, clothes, jewellery, accessories and shoes.
The Embodiment of Elegance
Nina Ricci has been the heart and soul of feminine fashion since its debut in 1932. Each and every piece of clothing designed by the brand since then has embodied what it means to be a lady. Ricci’s initial couture gowns were praised for their airy sophistication. The brand is always classy and yet never too serious; playful but graceful. A Nina Ricci dress is a guaranteed way to ooze glamour. The brand has always been beloved among celebrities, and today starlets such as Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon can be spotted flashing some Nina Ricci accessories or donning a gorgeous Nina Ricci gown for a red carpet event.
