The Magic Career of Miuccia Prada

Miuccia Prada’s name carries a respect and admiration that is sometimes difficult to find in fashion designers. Prada has been essential in forming some of the biggest trends and shifts in the world of high-fashion for over forty years. The designer was born into the Prada family and is a granddaughter of the fashion house founder Mario Prada. In the early 1970s she joined the family business alongside her mother Luisa who was CEO at the time. In 1978 she took over the business herself. Her business partner and husband Patrizio Bertelli encouraged her to take some time to form her vision and work to make it a reality. Prada followed his advice, and the result was the complete overhaul of Prada. In 1992 she decided to pursue a more personal project - Miu Miu. Named for a nickname she had, Miu Miu’s designs drew inspiration from Prada’s personal style. Miu Miu was a success from the get-go with the first collection of Miu Miu ankle boots, dresses and other items debuting in 1992. Miuccia’s name was further cemented into the history books of Italian style. In 1993 she was awarded the International Award from the CFDA for her work with Miu Miu and Prada. Today she continues to run both brands, working tirelessly to deliver cutting-edge style.

Miu Miu And Millennial Style

Intended to be the little-sister label of Prada, it’s easy to spot the differences and similarities between the two. Miu Miu retains Prada’s edgy, boundary-breaking aesthetic while at the same time completely contradicting the careful, precise style of the house. Miuccia has always pegged Miu Miu lace-up shoes, heels and boots to be more spontaneous than Prada. The designer takes a more inspired approach to Miu Miu - instead of poring over the designs for hours she creates them in a flurry of inspiration and the end result is always unique and stylish. Miu Miu’s footwear collections are a breath of fresh air in a sometimes-stagnant market, offering pops of colour and bright embellishment. Miu Miu pumps and peeptoes are a must for any vibrant, untraditional wardrobe.

Mu Miu Boots Today

Miu Miu is considered one of the defining brands of millennial style. Popular with every hot young thing in Hollywood today, the label will always be a testament to the unorthodox spirit of 21st century fashion. Suki Waterhouse, Emily Ratajkowski and Gigi Hadid are all avid wearers of the label, proof of Miu Miu’s popularity amongst the most stylish of women.
