Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton
The experienced and well-known fashion designer Marc Jacobs worked for sixteen years as a creative director for the brand and is largely responsible for the success of Louis Vuitton. He designed the first clothing line for Louis Vuitton skirts and many other garments. In his last show, his ready to wear collection consisted entirely of black Louis Vuitton blazers, dresses and jackets. His first collection also consisted exclusively of black clothes so he saw this as a nice conclusion to a fine journey. He played an instrumental role for the fashion industry during his years at the French fashion house. His dresses are gorgeous as are the bags that he again managed to give a new look to.
Where it all started
Louis Vuitton was born in France in 1821. When he was only ten years old, his mother died and his father quickly re-married a woman which Louis could not accept. At the age of thirteen, he decided to run away from home and arrived in Paris where he worked for a very famous Parisian trunk maker named Marechal. This gentleman taught him all the tricks of the trade which brought Louis Vuitton talent manifested. Marechal had very good connections and it didn’t take long before Louis’s talents were discovered. He became the official box score of the French empress. Through all this experience and name recognition, he managed to create his own label. He launched his first trunk line and gave a new meaning to comfortable traveling. The cases he made were in a unique and rectangular shape as opposed to the conventional round design. People began traveling more by train which made it easier to stack luggage on top of each other. The bags, luggage and accessories were elegant and very practical. The fashion house is still best known for its travel accessories even today. Soon after, the famous Marc Jacobs designed the first clothing collection for women in 1997. Today, the range is wide enough to make the customers think before making a choice. Suitcases, handbags and all his designs are recognised by the famous LV logo and the checkerboard pattern. Louis Vuitton is one of the most recognisable brands in the world and Patrick Louis Vuitton is the head of the fashion house, being the fifth generation of the Vuitton family.
