The Closed Shop – How it all started
With the beginning of the nineties Hamburg business partners Günther Giers and Hans Leplow acquire the company. In 2004 they sell it to Giers’ son Gordon and his business partners Hans Redlefsen and Til Nadler, whose friendship started back in the eighties already. Before getting started at Closed Giers works for Gucci in Milan; Nadler for Costume National and later for Prada. Hans Redlefsen gains his experiences in banking in Düsseldorf and later fills the position as financial director at Closed.
Corporate structures at Closed
The entrepreneurs restructure the design team, hire 30% more employees and extend the collections. Closed, from now on, does not only stand for jeans pants and chinos but creates wide-ranging collections for both women and men. With the appointment of Kostas Murkudis as the chief designer the aspiration to create fashion on an international level is reinforced. His first collection for autumn/winter 2013 is highly praised by fashion critics.
The Closed style – More than just jeans
The collections are primarily designed for fashionable women and men between 25 and 55 years. Besides the high aesthetic aspiration of the label understatement looks are another typical feature of Closed. Timeless designs are just as appreciated as the house’s understanding of trends and premium materials. The assortment today reaches far beyond the popular Closed pants, from down jackets through to parkas.
