All About Alessandra Lanvin
Alessandra Lanvin is the Italian designer behind Aperlai shoes. Born in Milan, Lanvin has lived in some of the biggest style capitals of the world including New York and London. She obtained a degree in International Affairs and Art History in her youth and has always had a passion for contemporary art. Upon graduating she worked as an accessories designer and married her now-husband Hubert Lanvin - the grandson of famed couture designer Jeanette Lanvin. Alessandra has been a keen shoe fanatic all her life, and in 2010 she took the plunge and launched Aperlai shoes. Her knowledge of art and love for collectible footwear is clear to see in her designs, and she has been lauded time and again for her work.
Shoes Imitating Art
Aperlai was launched in 2010 as a luxury shoe brand for women. The designer’s unconventional style quickly captured the attention of high-end retailers worldwide. Stores such as Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue opened their hearts and cleared off shelves to stock Aperlai sandals, boots, flats and heels. Over four years, Aperlai grew to be one of the biggest contenders in the international shoe game. Since 2012 the brand has been on display as part of exhibitions in the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Brooklyn Museum. Aperlai became available to buy in over 20 countries, with a line of Aperlai bags on the way. The first Aperlai boutique opened its doors in Paris in 2014. Today, the brand continues to thrive, delivering a hybrid of modern art and trendy footwear that is flying off the shelves.
Signature Style With An Artistic Edge
Aperlai is all about creating a signature walk with their shoes - confident, graceful, mysterious, feminine. The brand is dedicated to creating the most beautiful and unconventional shoes imaginable, reworking classic shapes and fits to create something new and contemporary. Lanvin’s background in art is easy to see in her line-work and colour choices, taking cues from the masterpieces of contemporary artists. The brand’s revolutionary “Geisha” pump has become something of a must-have, and its release pushed Aperlai straight into the spotlight. Celebrities who own their very own pair of Geishas include Blake Lively and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Today the brand is thriving, with plans to continue expanding globally. Aperlai ankle boots are the perfect accent to dress up an outfit, providing eye-catching style without being gaudy. Authentic Aperlai ballerinas and pumps, sandals and other items are available second-hand at REBELLE.com. All of our items are thoroughly checked for quality and authenticity.
