The Acne jeans – Early successes thanks to the It-piece

Acne “Fashion & Denim” is the result of Jonny Johansson’s marketing strategy: In 1997 Johansson designs a dark denim unisex jeans with red seams as a present for customers, family and friends. The jeans is a limited edition of 100 pieces and lays the foundation for the later success of the label. In Stockholm’s fashion scene the jeans immediately becomes THE It-piece. The worldwide hype around the jeans officially starts when first presented in the Swedish ELLE.

Acne Pistol Boots – Other Acne classics

Thanks to the marketing strategy Acne Jeans quickly turns into the label’s most successful line and is extended to a complete collection in 1998. The simple and clean look of the label remains indicatory for all following collections. The product assortment includes shoes, accessories and clothing – all characterized by ingenious cuts and premium quality materials only. Next to the clean wash Acne jeans the legendary, often copied “Pistol boots” and “Alma boots” are highly coveted among fashion lovers.

Acne Studios – the Acne shop

In the first six years of the labels existence the collections are only available in Scandinavian countries. The first Acne Studio, as the label’s own shops are called, is opened in Stockholm in 2003. In 2005 the first German studio opens in Berlin. By now there are Acne Studios in eight international metropolises.

Acne Paper

In 2005 another Acne product is launched – the Acne Paper. As the label does not make use of traditional advertising methods this is the latest invention of Acne’s creative directors – used for communicating and forwarding the label’s philosophy and vision. Just as the Ready-to-wear collections the Acne Paper is launched twice a year.

Acne & Lanvin

In 2008 Acne cooperates with the luxury label Lanvin for the first time. This is the start of an annual project: A joint Lanvin-Acne collections is launched every year since. On REBELLE you can find everything your Acne heart covets.
