The Life of Loris Azzaro
Born in Tunisia in 1933 to Sicilian parents, the young Loris Azzaro was displaying an affinity for fashion design from a young age. As a child he would draw pictures of outfits for his mother. In his youth, he studied at the University of Toulouse, France before going on to teach in several Tunisian colleges. In 1962 with his wife by his side he decided to trust his gut and founded his eponymous company Azzaro. Initially he made Azzaro jewellery based off items his wife would covet in shop windows. By 1967 the brand was blossoming and Azzaro was unknowingly writing himself into fashion history. He continued to run Azzaro until his death in 2003, whereby it was taken over by his daughter Beatrice.
The Dazzling Past of Azzaro
Founded in Paris in 1962, Azzaro got off to a muted start, designing costume jewellery. However, the designer had his sights set on an entire line of Azzaro clothing, using innovative materials like Lurex. By 1967 the house of Azzaro was set up and producing Azzaro accessories and eventually a line of ready-to-wear. Over the next decades Azzaro dressed some of the planet’s biggest and brightest including Brigitte Bardot and Tina Turner, and Azzaro dresses were being featured on the pages of Vogue magazine. By the time founder and designer Loris Azzaro passed away in 2003, the brand had become his unerasable and steadfast legacy. Under the guidance of Vanessa Seward and other designers, Azzaro has maintained its prominent place in Parisian fashion.
More-Is-More Style For Starlets
Classically feminine and ultra-flattering, Azzaro clothing is for women who love to dress up no matter the occasion. The label’s gorgeous gowns and charming cocktail dresses have been a firm favourite of the world’s most glamourous ladies since the 60s - one glance at an Azzaro collection and it’s easy to see why! Shimmering crystal detail, lace embellishments and bold, daring shapes are all fair game for this brand. The label make dresses that “women want to wear and men want to tear”, the wise and honest words of the founder himself Loris Azzaro. An Azzaro top or dress is the number one way to make sure all eyes are on you at the next party.
Azzaro has taken their signature more-is-more style right into modern fashion, with their collections being snapped up the moment they’re put on sale. Contemporary starlets have fallen prey to the charms of the brand just as their predecessors did, with the likes of Lucy Hale and Rachel McAdams investing in their items. Authentic Azzaro jackets and coats, dresses and other items are available second-hand at REBELLE.com. All of our items are thoroughly checked for quality and authenticity.
